Fall-proof Jorts

Long, loose & ready for layers

Jorts, fall edition

Summer’s over, your jorts aren’t

Putting away your jorts as soon as fall begins? No need. Since jorts fall just above or at the knee, they’re perfect for fall. Pair them with tall boots and a long-sleeved top or leather jacket, and your outfit is completely fall-proof. It’s casual, but looks a little more put-together than a regular pair of jeans. We’ll show you how to keep wearing your jorts, even when it gets colder outside.

Baggy jorts in fall: go big

A baggy jort is loose-fitting, sits a little lower on your hips, and falls loosely around your knees. It instantly gives your outfit a relaxed, edgy vibe. The rule here? Your top can be roomy too. Think an oversized striped burgundy long-sleeve top, with a lace top underneath that peeks out just below the long-sleeve top. That way, you nail two trends at once: stripes and burgundy. A slouchy suede shoulder bag and brown boots complete the look.

Want a tougher look? Throw an oversized leather jacket over a simple top and tie a checked shirt around your hips. Check print and the knotted detail trend in one look, plus an extra layer for when it gets chilly. A chunky sweater or oversized blazer also works great with a baggy jort. Pair it with sturdy boots with chunky soles to keep the whole look balanced. Really cold out? Let a pair of thick knee-high socks peek out just above your boots.

Long denim jorts: keep it fitted

A long denim jort is longer and straighter. The leg falls below the knee and pairs beautifully with a tall boot, leaving only a small strip of leg visible. That makes it easy to wear well into fall. Pair it with a fitted top to keep your outfit sleek and balanced. A fitted raglan long-sleeve with brown sleeves is just right and fits perfectly with this season’s brown tones. Tuck it in or let it fall just over your waistband. Add tall brown boots, a small suede bag, and sunglasses: done.

Need something a little dressier for the office or dinner? Wear your long denim jort with a fitted knit or knitted polo, topped with a blazer. A belt gives your look a little more shape, and with boots or heels, your jort suddenly looks quite chic. On really cold days, throw a long coat over it. A fashionable look doesn’t have to mean freezing, of course.

Jorts are too much fun to wear only in summer. With the right boots and a few layers, you can wear them all fall. Start with what’s already in your closet, or choose a new pair of jorts in a light or black wash. Not sure about your size? Check out our jeans size guide. Fall-proof? Absolutely.
