Job Vacancy - Financial Controller

• You take responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of the figures. You are critical and structured, and you do not let go until everything is correct.
• Delivering a report is not enough for you: you want to know where discrepancies come from and what they mean. You are also a strong communicator. You liaise with the accounting firm, operations and management, and you can explain financial results to people without a financial background.
• You work independently but primarily form a team with the MD/FD at Most Wanted. You prepare the monthly financial report and deliver it accurately and on time.
• You compare actuals with the budget and forecast and analyze the key variances.
• You bridge operational data and financial figures so that the report is consistent and explainable.
• You identify trends and risks in margin, costs and working capital and raise them with management.
• You oversee the month-end closing: collecting, reviewing and delivering information on time, including reconciliations of inventory and margin.
• You ensure that invoices are submitted on time, in full and with the correct classification.
• You are the point of contact for the accounting firm and manage the turnaround time.
• You monitor outstanding items lists and ensure that they reconcile.
• You check the reconciliation between purchase order, goods receipt and purchase invoice and follow up on discrepancies.
• You prepare the weekly payment list and review expense claims and credit card expenses.
• You check tax returns before they are submitted and perform periodic consistency checks.
• You support the budget, rolling forecast and cash flow forecast.
• You support the preparation of the annual accounts and monitor the timetable with the accountant.
• You further develop our reporting structure as the business grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Economics, Accountancy or a comparable field.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in a controlling or administrative role, preferably in e-commerce, retail or at an accounting firm.
• Demonstrable experience with month-end closing, reporting and preparing analyses.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with an accounting or ERP system.
• Interest in and experience applying AI and keeping up with developments in AI technology.
• Affinity with data: you naturally connect data from different sources. Experience with BI tools or SQL is a strong advantage.
• You work quickly, systematically and independently.
• Good command of Dutch and English.
